10 Spring Getaways on a Budget
10 Spring Getaways on a Budget
While it may not seem like warmer weather is on its way, we promise you it is – and with it often comes the itch to travel. At our Columbus Airport parking company, we’ve collected 10 great destinations for a spring vacation if you’re looking for a getaway without the big price tag:
Great Smoky Mountains National Park
If you’re a lover of the outdoors, take a trip to the most popular national park in the U.S. Straddling the border of Tennessee and North Carolina, the park covers more than 500,000 acres and offers plenty of hiking, biking, sightseeing, wildlife watching, camping, picnicking, and more. The best part is it’s one of the few parks that doesn’t charge an entrance fee.
You don’t have to wait for summer to take a trip to the beach – South Carolina is warming up already! Head down to Myrtle Beach and enjoy the sandy shores, Ripley’s Aquarium, and a boardwalk complete with an amusement park, shops, and restaurants. And because it’s early in the season, you’ll find great prices on lodging.
Brush up on your history with a trip to Washington D.C. With 16 Smithsonian museums and galleries, a zoo, must-see memorials (like the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery), and unforgettable landmarks (like the White House and the Washington Monument), there’s plenty to do. And amazingly, most attractions are free!
There’s always something to do in Sin City and March-May is one of the best times to visit. You’ll enjoy moderate weather and lower prices on hotels as well as endless gambling opportunities at one of the area’s more than 100 casinos. If gambling isn’t your thing, there are more entertainment options than you can count, including live music, magic shows, comedy sketches, acrobatics, tributes, and more.
Puerto Rico boasts beautiful weather during the spring and because you don’t need a passport, it’s an easy out-of-the-country getaway. Plan your trip around popular spring break dates and you’ll find affordable airfare and hotel rates to add to the excitement of 270 miles of coastline, stunning Spanish architecture, outdoor adventures, and the overall rich culture.
Springtime weather is beautiful down in Florida, which is why many flock to Disney World. At our Columbus Airport parking company, we suggest skipping Disney and heading to Sanibel Island, where you can kick back and relax in a place that feels all your own. And if lounging around isn’t your thing, there’s always biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and more outdoorsy activities.
Head to the Pacific Northwest before June and you’ll find decent deals on airfare. Enjoy beautiful views from the top of the Space Needle, stop in at one of Seattle’s many local breweries, enjoy some fresh seafood, and don’t forget to check out the famous Pike Place Market. And if you’re feeling adventurous, Portland, Oregon is just a three-hour drive south.
Want a French experience without traveling all the way to France? Head to Montreal in Quebec, Canada. The city has a distinct old-world European feel with its cobblestone streets, elegant architecture, quaint markets and shops, and tasty French cuisine – not to mention folks speaking the beautiful French language.
Playa del Carmen
Skip Cancun, Mexico and head just an hour next door to Playa del Carmen. You’ll find the same stunning beaches with a more refined atmosphere. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, beachside lounges, funky public squares, and authentic Mexican food. The city is easily walkable, which makes it all the more relaxed and enjoyable.
This desert oasis in California is best visited in April or May before the heat hits and becomes a place of festivals during the spring. From music festivals like Coachella to the Palm Desert Food & Wine Festival to Greater Palm Springs Restaurant Week, you can enjoy a variety of gatherings as well as museums, hiking, casinos shopping, and more.
